if i get them from the bookstore, should i order them now and pick them up when school starts or order them now and get them shipped to my house or should i just by them when i get there? how reliable is the shipping? thanks!

This close to school starting, I’d kind of lean toward getting them at school (either ordering ahead or not.). My son ordered his books to be sent to our house. The order finally got delivered today, to our correct name and address, and the contents and receipt inside were for some other person!!! No idea where my son’s books are… We have to call the bookstore tomorrow and have no idea how long it will take to figure out the problem…

You should get them when you are there. The thing is I bought 4 books in the past for nothing because I ended up finding PDFs of the eBooks online. You should too.

if you buy online you could pay for new books, or have them pick out used ones. But as I understand it you have to decide ahead. If you go to the bookstore you can look thru the used books and sometimes find a used one that’s in great shape for less than new. BTW go as soon as you show up on campus; the weekend before classes start the bookstore can be a real zoo.

i plan to go to iv bookstore to buy them the week before classes start

i would be anxious to buy online from either ucsb bookstore or iv bookstore…friend said “they take your money and dont ship you anything”. but again, i have no experience buying online with either, so i guess i shouldnt judge (i will be a FIRST YEAR student…im not an upperclassman, i just live in goleta)

the bookstore is a good place to play with an ipad…a few months ago i was stuck there for an hour or two and i just stood there playing with it :)

iv bookstore is way cheaper than the ucsb bookstore…place looks kinda janky though, but i like it. they have much better service than the campus bookstore, at least in the summer…they only sell textbooks and gear
