I'm going to be a Senior this upcoming year so I want to know if I can start writing my college essays for UC and Cal States, and where can I get them. I also wanted to know if I am able to start applying for scholarships already or wait till I am accepted to a school

It would be wise to start on the college essays as soon as the prompts are released. You have to check with the school for that and also their scholarship policies. Sometimes scholarships for the school have a deadline before the admission results are released. If you’re talking about outside scholarships then you can start any time you want.

I am sure many have already started writing essay in the Summer. Remember, it may take many revisions to make it look good.

Now!

CSU does not have essays. UC does and calls them personal statements. Since that application is due early you should start now. There are 2 essays to write, the total is 1,000 words but you can divide it up how you like between the two. The prompts are on the website here:

There is also a separate forum just for essay questions you can read. There are tips pinned to the top of the forum.

You do not wait to apply for scholarships. For scholarships from schools, you usually apply around the time you submit your application. Read the financial aid section of colleges you are applying for and note the deadlines and requirements.

For outside (non university) scholarships you can apply as soon as you find them and they are open. If you wait until you are accepted to a college, all the deadlines will likely be passed or the money already gone.
