I’m looking to submit the Common Application to 7 schools: Columbia, Harvard, Northwestern, UChicago, NYU, Michigan Ann Arbor, and Johns Hopkins, as well as a separate application to the UW-Madison. The listed deadline for each school’s Regular Decision process is at some point in the first week of January (with the exception of Mad-Town, which is in February). On the other hand, I have a friend who says he has heard through the grapevine (his aunt is in the administration of the University of Pennsylvania, or so he tells me) that the Common App should be submitted by December first. Does it matter when I have it submitted as long as it is submitted by the deadline? I’m making progress on my essays, but with my upcoming schedule (#Thanksgiving Weekend), it’s looking more and more likely that I will miss submitting the entire package by next Tuesday.
You will not get accepted or rejected to a particular highly-selective school based on when you submitted the application. December 1 works. So does December 31 at 11:59PM.
