<p>So the question is: all the colleges which i'm applying to have set the deadlines of 15 Jan, so do I have to submit the common application essay on 1 Jan? Can I submit it at any time before 15 Jan?</p>

<p>You can submit it any time before your earliest deadline. No, you don’t have to submit it on 1st Jan if that isn’t your deadline. And no, that’s not a stupid question. :)</p>
<p>anytime before the schools deadline of Jan. 15 but I would do it at least a day before in case the system crashes.</p>
<p>You can submit your common app any time up to or even on January 15 (and probably even a few hours or more into Jan 16) and still meet the deadline.</p>
