When should i take the SAT IIS and the SAT I?

Okay,
This question has been bothering me for a while now. When should i take the SAT IIS and the SAT Is. I heard that the SAT Is are given this fall (October, November, December). I want to take the SAT I during the months of November, and December. As for the SAT IIS (I am planning to take 3 of them), when should i take them. Does the College Board offer them in the beginning of 2006 or is it too late for me to take them and submit my application to the colleges i want to go to? When is the last date that i can take the SATs so that it wont be too late for me to write those scores on my applications?

Please let me know,
Thanks for the help

Tut. You're a rising senior. You've waited a bit late but you can definently cram everything in. I don't know when the RD deadlines are for colleges, it could be in December or February...I simply don't know. But I know the ED/EA deadline is definently in November or earlier. Taking the SAT I in November and then retaking in December won't help you, because that's too soon. You should take the SAT I in October and retake in December if you must, or take in November and retake at the end of January. (28th of Jan).

October 8: SAT I
November 5: SAT IIs
December 3: SAT I
January 28: SAT IIs

How about that for a schedule? I really have no idea when the RD deadlines are, so you might be able to take another test later or you might have to take it earlier, I'm not sure at all. Are you planning to take the ACT at all?

I am not planning to take the ACT. Also, i am not going to apply for early decsion. I am definately sure i want to take the SAT I in November and December. If i see tha my november scores or good then i will cancel my test or take it if i find it easier. As for the SAT IIs, i will get about 1 month and a half to study for Math IC and IIC, and writing which are all not hard SAT IIs. My biggest worry is if i can take these tests in this order. Is it possible?

SAT II Writing is not offered anymore... You can take the SAT and SAT II's in any order

and it is recommended not to take both 2c and 1c

How about for those universities that orginally equested 3 SAT IIs w/ one being SAT II Writing? I think it is still offered.. no?

Writing was discontinued after January, 2005. The websites you are checking have not been updated for the New SAT. There are still a few colleges wanting 3 SAT2s (MIT comes to mind), but most do not want both maths. They would prefer SAT2s in different subjects (say, Math II and Biology or US History or Spanish, etc). I think sarorahs schedule makes the most sense.

Keep in mind a few other things, most schools I can think of (excluding Harvard and MIT) require 2 SAT IIs + SAT I W/Writing, I agree you should take the SAT first and the SAT IIs after because the SAT is the more important test. You should also consider taking the ACT to replace the SAT I because it can substitute for it. The ACT is offered, I believe, on the same dates plus Septemeber in some states.

I agree with everyone else. Why are you so set against taking the SATI in October?

Here is the problem. I want to prep for the SAT october becuase i will be going elsewhere this summer. It is possible for me to get a 2000+ on it by November and December. As for the SAT 2s i have taken US history (800) and Math IC (mid 600s). I want to take math IIC because i did practice tests and i have received very high score due to the nice curve. As for the math ic, i want to redeem myself :D. I really think i get in the high 700s with just a little bit of practice and studying. As for the ACT, i am not good in the science section and it might take a while for me to adapt to it. Therefore, it would be time consuming.

You should take SATI as soon as possible so that you can make it up... you should leave yourself a second chance

The best prep for the SAT is taking the SAT. Take it as early as you can, call it a practice, figure out what you need to study, then study it, and take it again.

Also - you might want to just try the ACT, different people do better on different tests, and you might surprise yourself. It'll give you the most chances at a test score you're really happy with.
