I usually take SAT or ACT tests in the area, either at my school or at a public school nearby. (in Queens, NY). On saturday I took the ACT a bit out on long island. Its crazy how you can see such a difference between the kids from where I live and the kids from this area.

Where I would normally take it, the kids are all friendly, very DIVERSE, wear normal clothes, etc. But where I took the ACT, oh man. The kids were ALL white (I saw one Asian), the guys (not just the girls) were wearing pink or blue or green shorts with flip flops. The guy who sat behind me had a luis vuitton wallet.. that made me laugh. And as I was leaving, every car that drove by to pick up their kid was a mercedes or bmw.

Just sharing a story from my ACT experience, haha. Has anyone else noticed a completely different atmosphere when taking the tests in different areas?

You probably took it in an area of Long Island where the population is like 85% white. Some schools are predominantly of one race or ethnicity as well. I live in Queens, too, and I took my last SAT at Washington Irving HS, where the school’s student population is like 99% hispanic and black. If you plan on taking the SAT again, you should look into these things before you sign up for a test center.

Haha, no I dont care… I just find it interesting how 2 places so close to each other can be so different

I dunno how the kids at the school that I took my June SAT survive w/o an AC/Central air system. I filed a complaint since I think it’s ridiculous that the CB lets them administer the test…

LMAO i love your pink/green short description… sounds like California!! preppy beach boy image man gotta love it…ya its ridiculous how your environment determines how much money you have to spend to fit in instead of your personal desire

Yes, my d has taken some tests at a schools closer to us and some at a school a bit further. She has gotten goof balls at the local schools (kids sleeping through test, etc) and at the school in the better neighborhood, she gets normal kids (to her) and that means kids who take the tests at least semi-seriously. (She doesn’t go to any of the schools).
