When to apply for college?

Hey all,

This is my first post, so please forgive me if you do find something abnormal in my post.

Anyways, I am planning to apply to Harvard. I will graduate from high school in 2014, therefore, I suppose I can join the class of 2014 or 2015.

But I see people posting online that they have already been accepted for these classes. How is that possible? Should I apply 3 years earlier? If so, then what should I include in my application? I still did not take many exams that I am planning to put into my application.

Best Regards

that means that they will graduate in 2014 or 2015 like I’m a senior and I am in the GW class of 2016

Yes, it’s a little confusing, but when people say Class of XXXX here on CC, they usually mean the College graduating Class of XXXX.

That’s their college class, like when they’ll graduate college, not high school!

You apply for college in your senior high school year typically, and I guess that’ll make you college class of 2018 :D

If you will graduate from high school in 2014 then, typically, you will be college class of 2018.

Most students apply to college during their senior year of high school (or the summer between jr & sr years). Each college sets its own application deadline, but most deadlines fall between Dec 15 and Feb 1. Some earlier, some later. According to the website, it appears that Harvard’s deadline is January 1.

"I guess that’ll make you college class of 2018 "

No guesses. If you graduate HS in 2014, you’ll be applying to be in the Harvard college class of 2018.

I was really confused, but things are much clearer now :). A great thank you to Lanua27, entomom, BlueLoveXD, DougBetsy, and T26E4.
