Wondering when to fill out the financial aid applications? We’ve got the scoop. https://www.collegeconfidential.com/articles/when-to-apply-for-financial-aid/
My understanding that you specify on FAFSA what colleges you want it to be submitted or what colleges can access it. Is this correct?
I am still unclear if an applicant can submit FAFSA to selected colleges before submitting general college application or it is done together or FAFSA is submitted after general application. The earliest time an applicant can submit college application is for EA or ED which is October 15th in selected colleges. but FAFSA opens on October 1st.
You can certainly submit FAFSA, as soon as it’s available, to any college you want, before applications are sent.
You can submit the FAFSA as soon as it becomes available for submission to any colleges your kid might be applying to. You don’t have to wait until they submit their application for admission. And if your kid decides not to apply to a college…that’s fine. The school just won’t do anything with your FAFSA information.
@CCEdit_Torrey there are tons of threads which address when to apply for need based as well as merit aid on this forum in the financial aid and scholarship section.
I would urge folks reading here to read this article, but if they want to have a conversation about this topic…start a thread with their question in the financial aid and scholarship section of this forum.
Also, is this thread meant to talk about the article?
I answered @Al73 question…but really they would be better served starting their own thread with this question.
@thumper1 The thread isn’t meant to discuss the article only – we are happy to send follow-up questions to the original author for further discussion. Cheers!
