When to apply

Going to be a senior in the fall.. when is it a good time to start applying to instate/out of state universities?

As long as the application is postmarked by or on the deadline date, you'll be fine.

But whens the earliest schools start to accept?

Usually as soon as schools put out their applications for the year you're good to apply. It also depends on whether the school has Rolling Admisions, and Early Action application plan you decide to take advantage of, Early Decision, etc. I say that October (or even November) is the earliest.

Try and write your application as soon as possible. While most schools (except rolling) don't care when you submit your application, you don't want to be left with 10 essays left to write the day before your applications are due.
