When to file FAFSA and CSS

<p>My parents are wondering when the best time to file my FAFSA and CSS will be. They want to use tax information from 2013, but their information may not be ready by some of the filing due dates. Should we estimate? Are most people basing stuff off of their 2012 information?</p>

<p>For FAFSA, you will see that there is one question at the beginning where you state whether your parents (and you if applicable) ‘have filed’ or ‘will file’ 2013 taxes. You can submit estimates as ‘will file’ and then after filing taxes submit changes as ‘have filed’.</p>

<p>The Profile can’t be changed online, but you can still use estimates before the due dates and make corrections later.</p>
