I took French at some colleges. When would I generally need to send the transcripts?

Around Jan 1st?

I'm apply to be a 1st year undergraduate from high school.

You realize that most colleges ask for everything to be postmarked by Jan 1st right?

Including supplements, research abstracts, statements of purpose, resumes, and yes college transcripts.

^ I don't think that would necessarily apply to all cases. For example, if a student took courses during fall 2007, the college might not have the grades/transcript updated until after jan 1.

^What I said (they "ask" for everything to be postmarked by then) is true, but they're always very lenient about exceptions.

The case you mentioned was exactly my own (even the Jan 1st date). I had my transcripts requested on Dec 19, but they couldn't get them printed out until Jan 2nd because the grades updated Jan 1st. So they mailed them out Jan 2nd postmarked, and I'm not worried at all.

How about the UCs?

UC Berkeley's site says:

Order final transcripts. Send transcripts only if you are admitted. If you're admitted for the fall term, arrange to have final, official transcripts to the campus Admissions Office no later than July 15.

There was nothing else mentioned about non-final transcripts.
