I am thinking of applying to UCSB and I have read that they take all SAT scores when applying. I am a Junior in HS and was thinking of taking it 2 times this year and 1 time next year as well as a few SAT II subject tests. Do I have to send a score report from each time I take the SAT to UCSB or will my final SAT score report have all of my previous scores on it without having to pay to send all the other scores?

Also, I have another question that doesnt fit this category, but 2 birds 1 stone:
I live in MD but I absolutely want to attend UCSB. The only problem is that I know I could probably handle IS tuition but OOS is just ridiculous. At first I just planned to defer admission a year and move out in the summer, get a job/apt/ca dl/vote... and then pay IS. Now I have heard that it is not likely they will allow me to defer. So should I apply, decline, move to CA in summer(right after graduation), get a job/apt/ca dl/vote... and then apply again as IS? If I do this will I still be accepted or does taking a gap year hurt my chances? If I can show my intent to stay in CA, taxes, job, rent, ca dl, vote regst, and financial independence would it be hard to get IS tuition? And I really do intend to stay in CA. I have family in Santa Clarita and im not just going to leave after I graduate. I was thinking maybe a face to face meeting could help, but thats $400 that will most likely not help anything. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I know I have time but Im trying to figure everything out early.

As to test scores, College Board, the testing agency, sends all test scores it has for you whenever you order any score sent unless you choose not to send a particular score. You can thus wait until your last tests taken to send all scores to UCSB. Also be aware that though the application deadline is always Nov 30 of your senior year in high school, it takes tests through the Dec testing date of your senior year in high school. Also, you can apply to multiple UCs using a single application and you can order CB to send official test scores to only one UC and all UCs to which you apply will get them.

As to your second question, applying to UCSB and then declining admission and then reapplying after getting to California and establishing residency is probably an easy method to assure that you will then be rejected by UCSB when you apply again because it can consider that you were admitted and declined admission before against you. The only way you can possibly get in-state tuition is not apply, after high school move to California, actually get a job, place to live that you pay for, pay all your bills (if your parents from the east are still providing any financial support during that time you won’t be considered in state; in other words, they better not be sending you a hundred bucks a month to keep you afloat), vote in Cal, pay Cal income taxes, and thus be a true independent for a year before attending with the risk that you could be rejected admission when you do apply. I do not recommend that course of action just to achieve in-state residency for tuition purposes.
