My D (rising senior) took SAT and ACT and is probably done testing. We were talking about having her send scores now to schools she knows she's applying to as a show of interest. Is there any reason to wait to send them until she applies?

There is nothing wrong with sending them now. The college starts an application for admission file as soon it receives anything that is supposed to be in it. However, don’t expect that sending it now will provide any leg up on admission. The interest factor only goes so far and most colleges don’t even consider it. Moreover, those who actually make admission decisions won’t see them. They won’t see the scores until they are part of a completed application file. The ones that will see them now are recruiters in the admissions office (who don’t make any admission decisions) and those who make bulk mailings to potential applicants.

…or perhaps the interns or work-study students.

But if your daughter is satisfied with her test scores: (1) she may as well go ahead and send 'em, so that’ll be taken care of, and (2) good for her!
