When to start college apps

i will be a senior this september. Should i begin my college applications now?

I want to apply to some of the Ivy Leagues as reaches, but i have no idea which ones to pick. How do you guys start picking? Besides looking at SAT ranges and stuff. lol

bumppp

:)

I know of people who have started work on their Common App essays during the summer and I think it helped them. I don't think you can really apply until the school year starts. Once it does, you may want to apply to an school that has running acceptances to see if you can get one out of the way and get that weight off your mind immediately.

As far as how to select, hopefully you've been thinking about what kind of school you like - small/large, urban/rural, specific clubs, etc. Then check them out online and try to get to some local college fairs.

If you are looking at some Ivies, I would recommend to first visit CollegeBoard's site and look at what information they have on each of the Ivies. You may also want to look at what percentage of each class graduates with a certain major to get a sense of which majors are bigger (and sometimes stronger) at a certain Ivy over another.
After you visit CollegeBoard, I would visit each of the Ivies' websites and just browse through some of their pages. You also might try visiting some of the forums or blogs that many colleges have on their websites.
Good luck!
