I am sure you all have summer reading to do...I just wanted to ask when is the best time to start reading. I don't want to start too early because I tend to forget I have read. I also don't want to read a few days before school because I then rush and don't understand the material.
Any tips?

If you are going to start early then you’ll have to read it more than once, which might be better if there’s a test on it or something. But it depends, how long is the book?

Depends how long the book is, what kind of book it is (like a novel or textbook?), and your reading pace. Also, do you have to do anything aside from read? Any paper to write or anything?

Depends on how much reading you have to do and what assignments you may have to go along with the books.

But for my school two or three is standard (all from 100-500 pages) and I like to start at the beginning of August (if you start school in September). That way you can really get into each one and not be pressed for time, especially if you’re a slow reader or one book ends up being really bad.

And if it is that bad then I’d say try to chunk it out so you can actually get it done and not have to read sparknotes.

Do you know about how many pages you are comfortable/able to retain in one day? Divide the total pages by this number, then back up this number of days from the start of school…add a couple for days you might end up not reading…and there you go! Just make sure you keep on schedule so as not to cram at the end.

Start whenever you want. You can always do the reading early and then review it before school starts (flip back through the chapters, read the chapter/novel summaries, take notes during the reading and then review those closer to when school starts).

One book I have to read is about 150 pages. One is around 400 pages and I have to read the constitution. I don’t wanna read too much as I have summer school and I have to finish reading before August

Ideally, you should start during the beginning of August. I started the day after school ended since I wanted to also get ahead in the curriculum .

Haha don’t do what I did: I tested out of Comp II and Lit II in preparation for AP Lit and AP Lang so I didn’t end up reading them until a week before school started. Kind of screwed myself over! I would start now and then review with sparknotes before school starts! I wouldn’t recommend reading them more than once unless you are REALLY commited. There are more important things to worry about:)
