Alright guys i just finished sophomore year and i was wondering if i should start my essays right away. to my knowledge, they really dont change the prompts that often and when they do, they are only slight changes. Should I start ASAP or wait?

I think you can start the common app ones but the supplement questions supposedly change. But why would you start now? There’s no point…

LOL! At the OP I am in the same boat I was just thinking about starting mine!

Start your essay when you get the prompt. It doesn’t take THAT long.

The essays are only from 500 - 1000 words which is like 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 pages…pretty darn short. It takes like 2-4 hours to do it. Its the revising that takes days and days. Dont start it now, its a waste. You will probably have a more essay worthy experience during your junior or senior years.

You’re going to do a lot of growing and changing in the next year. One step at a time. For now, just think about any turning point event or something you experienced, realized or overcame that made a change in you. This summer is a great time to evaluate your ECs and make sure you have the right mix and take steps to fill any gaps.

I hadn’t quite thought of it that way. Thanks guys!
