@YoungOne4 Yes - Each school (School of Arts & Sciences, School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, etc) has an Honors program. Independently, there is an “Honors College” which covers all the schools. This is the “big one” - it has it’s own housing you have to live in 1st year, they have the Presidential Scholarships, early registration, etc. and generally has a higher bar to get in.
@YoungOne4 Honors college mean you get dorms with all the other HC students and take classes with them while honors programs mean you higher level classes. see rutgers website for more specific info.
See the post made by @schadret
Early registration isn’t a perk (unless you’re talking about your first set of classes as an entering freshman). Other than that, you register with everyone else based on credits earned
Gotcha. That was totally unclear to me before. So enrolling in the SEBS honors program doesn’t entitle a student to live in the honors college housing I take it? Also, is it correct that everyone was “invited” today to enroll in an honors program, but only certain kids were invited to enroll in the honors college?
@YoungOne4 Yes, that is correct. Enrolling into honor PROGRAMS means no HC housing and notifications released tonight were for both HC and HPs.
Do you guys know if honors decisions will come out soon if we didn’t get any information yet?
Can someone explain the difference honors program/honors college? Mom of two possibles. Thanks.
If you get a message that reads
No Record Found
Thank you for visiting the Honors site. No honors information is available for your record. Please be sure you entered the correct email address and password.
does that mean you didn’t get in?
@Rayfusion7 I have the same exact question!
Yes that means you did not get in.
should I still wait for tomorrow?
@nyclika I got into SAS honors but not RBS as well (and I’m also leaning towards business). I was wondering if the RBS honors program requires higher stats than SAS honors
@tooksattoday1 no, because i got into the honors program. just not the honors college. so it says, SAS honors program.
Popping in from last year’s thread. I checked my notes and last year D heard about her presidential scholarship on Jan 20th. I thought the scholarship came with the Honor college invitation. But I could be wrong. The HC come out really late this year…
is it true that decisions will be coming until feb 15 still?
@jessla12 yes probably because only a certain percentage of students from each school is accepted. Since RBS has a smaller class, the requirements to qualify are higher
@jessla12 i think that must be true, the business is probably harder to get into. I also got into the SAS honors program but not the RBS honors program. I think in general, the harder that school is to get into, the harder it is to get honors for it.
@tooksattoday1 not sure where you got that from. I would just keep checking the portal and your email over the next few days
@3sonsmom please see post #160 of this thread, located on page 11. For more info please visit the Rutgers website.
Does anyone know how these results affect scholarships? Do only people who got into the honors college receive merit-based scholarships? Or can people in the honors program/anyone get merit scholarships?
