When will the next wave of responses be sent?

I applied in November. This is BS.

Agreed wholeheartedly.

My D was rejected…got the email around 4:30 this afternoon. She auditioned for the MT BFA in early October…it has been a long long wait. Not all that upset at the rejection…we probably couldn’t afford the crazy tuition anyways. Congrats to all who have been accepted and hang in there to those of you still waiting.

i think maybe the reason why a bunch of us are waiting is because we’re being re-evaluated for our second and/or third choice??

i know that the admissions office does the 2nd and 3rd choices on a space available basis. my first choice was newhouse, and i’m nearly positive that i didn’t get in (pathetic reach for me lol) but my second and third choices (whitman & cas) might still be in the running? i’m not sure this is their strategy, but it’s my best guess!

I don’t know if that’s the reason.

I’m a transfer student so maybe that is a reason. And people got into Newhouse with lower grades than me.

im thinking maybe its something to do with financial aid? possibly i hope

That’s possible runnergirl. I actually got accepted to my 2nd choice (yesterday).

Congrats dreamerr!!! I knew good news was a comin for you! Hang in there everyone else, you still have today and tomorrow to hear…Good luck

erik: If you (or anyone else) is/are a Newhouse transfer, there are a few things you should be aware of:

1) Newhouse will evaluate internal transfers before/during the same process as external transfers; there are a ton of people already at SU that apply to transfer into Newhouse after freshman year…

2) last year, internal transfers were not notified that they were admitted until at least April 1st

3) the internal transfer GPA last year was around 3.5 depending on what school one was transferring from (CAS was a little higher than Education due to the numbers that applied)

runnergirl: you are right that you are probably being evaulated for your 2nd or 3rd choices…but understand that Whitman admissions are right behind Newhouse in terms of competitiveness (actually architecture, but that’s another story altogether)…honestly, I have never heard of anyone SU accepted into their third choice, but every year admissions does something to surprise me (like the weird way they are notifying this year)…so you never know…
last year, they rejected/waitlisted a ton of people into their 1st choice rather than give them their second or third; if you look at last year’s threads, you can see that…

hope this all helps…

Can’t believe they are having accepted students meetings before sending all notifications.

Is it bad news if I haven’t heard anything yet??? What’s going on??? I’m going insane.

I am with you wondering if this is bad news, I have not heard and SU is my first choice.

My D’s friend her good news yesterday afternoon via email. We are STILL waiting and are feeling very nervous. Did anyone out there here yesterday? Has anyone ever heard on a Sunday?

Although Syracuse rejected my DS, I am still hoping for all of you who haven’t yet heard. Please post when you get the news!

Guys, if you do get into the school, you will end up loving the school even more for the wait it put you through. Its a psychological thing. You waited so long to the point where you even went a little crazy, now you will do everything in your power to make sure you actually attend. Get my drift? Good luck.

@iliketocook.
thats what i thought. what would they have accepted student meeting without notifying all the students. that is horrible planning/time management on SU’s part…
however, the meeting was pretty boring and while it was cool to talk to alums, parents, and the fin aid lady it definitely isnt super important to go to.

only today and tomorrow? i’m still waittingg! ):

Does anyone think there is one more wave of acceptances?

Well, there’s a next wave of something, because several kids at Son’s school have heard nothing.

called up and they said they are still sending out until the end of the month…
