Anyone have a clue?

Acme – wondering the same thing myself. I looked at some threads from last year and some posts suggested that the waves were sent on Friday afternoons, but other posts seemed to suggest that they came daily. So, I don’t have a good answer for you, I am afraid.

As far as I know, everyone in my high school that applied got their responses on Friday except me. I was thinking maybe they did it by school or county or something, but now i’m just clueless. They should just let everyone know! :(

Until you hear otherwise, I would not worry dreamerr. The results are supposed to be “rolling” from 3/15. It does not sound like from the threads that everyone has heard already

Hopefully soon. I’m getting anxious.

I guess it’s just more “wait and see” for now…

They send out waves every Friday.

erikmoonwalks-- thanks. Out of curiosity, how did you find this out?

It’s not so much that I’m worried, sleepy, just annoyed. It seems like they’ve made all their decisions, they just choose to send them out in the most random way, which isn’t exactly fair to those selected for the last “waves.” I’m pretty sure I know what my decision is anyway; I have considered Syracuse a safety from day one, and I have already gotten acceptances from better schools. I really just want to know my financial aid package. Sigh I guess I’ll just keep waiting…

dreamerr – I hear you and feel much the same way. I have always been a huge Syracuse fan (more of a “townie”, having grown up in Upstate but attended a SUNY school), but am disappointed in this process. (My daughter had a similar experience with University of Miami – they sent their Early Action notifications out in waves – and I felt the same about their process.) There is no technological reason not to be able to notify everyone at the same time, notwithstanding the large number of applicants. Not a whine, just a wish that they would re-evaluate the notification system. Like you, my daughter has considered Syracuse a “safety” (even though Newhouse is so competitive). But unlike you, I can’t help but be nervous even though she is a really good candidate that would bring a lot to the school. Just want the confirmation that she is in!

I feel the same way about this and also about Tulane. In that case, DS was actively approached to apply, was assured of an early response, only to be deferred to regular decision. When the first waves of responses went out, he heard nothing. Only this week did he find out he was not accepted. I feel certain they could have notified him when the initial wave of decisions went out, just not to prolong the agony. I wish you the best of luck with Syracuse! By now, DS is disheartened enough that unless he got a lot of money, he will go with one of the schools that has given him a more “user-friendly” experience!

Northeastern has a great approach, they send out all the emails on the same day (give or take a couple of days) via e-mail. Simple! Now that I’ve gotten in to all of my schools (except Syracuse for now), I’m even more worried because SU is my top, and last to hear back from!

Wow, Acme – that Tulane story is disheartening! There are a number of schools that were actively “recruiting” my daughter to apply (including phone calls to home) and for some of those there is no way she would have gotten in! I am all for a kid stretching themselves for a dream school, but I also believe in a dose of reality ~ do they really need the application fee all that much?

Anyway, I am hoping that after this next wave, we are all sharing good news with respect to SU.

Marjorie-- I don’t think it’s about the fee, it’s more about getting as many applications as possible. From a positive standpoint, the more apps the better the classs. From a cyncial standpoint, I’m sure some schools are trying to get even completely unqualified students to apply so they can generate a lower acceptance rate for the ridiculous competition for US News rankings.

The Tulane app is free, so that certainly is not the reason they do it. They have been doing that since 2002, and the quality of every class has been better except for last year when it was the same as the year before. Tulane has increased the average SAT score of an incoming student about 100 points (based on 1600) in that time.

As far as the USNWR goes, when it comes to % admittted and you do all the math it would make at most a 2% difference to go from, say a 50% admit rate to a 30% rate because of the way USNWR weights the factors. So that really isn’t the motivation either.

The waves come out on friday evenings usually after 5pm…there are a few acceptances here and there during the week but the big wave where everyother post is “I got in!” come on Fridays…good luck to everyone still waiting!

Is anyone who thinks they should get it still waiting?

I’m still waiting! :(

Still waiting also.

I’m a prospective transfer student and I have yet to hear as well. I’m growing a bit anxious. I hope they don’t make me wait till April.
