Or do they just say that to everyone to be nice? Do they actually want you to email them in college and say what you're doing?

I think that it depends a lot on how close you were with your teachers while you were in HS.

of course they do! especially towards students they really like or feel will be really successful. teachers love hearing that they helped you further your education, it’s what they work for. so after you graduate from medical school, be sure to pop into your ap bio class and tell your teacher.

Yeah, like one I know I’m supposed to email periodically because he predicted our futures for everyone in the class as a fun end-of-the-year thing, and he said he wants to know what things he’s correct on and what we do that’s way off from what he said.

Others, idk…

That sounds cool, I wonder what my teachers think I’ll do… and yes, if you think that there’s a good relationship with you and the teacher then you should email him/her

I keep in touch with my favorite high school teachers over Facebook (they often won’t accept requests from current students but will from past students) and visit when possible. They always seem glad to see me when I come to visit.

If you want to keep in touch with them, then they probably want you to?
But if they were an influential person in your life, I think it’s nice to :)
