When you meet an Admissions Officer...

My background - graduated '08 from a public HS, admitted to all the schools
I applied to and stayed well out of sight from visiting admissions officers.

It seems to me the admissions officer have two major roles. During the early
periods leading up to their role on the committee they become salesmen
encouraging the most number of students to apply to their school. They
have limited value in sharing what gets an applicant rejected in these sessions.

Once the actual selection starts they focus on wringing the highest quality
out of the pool- hence rejecting the most number of students they can to
still reach their target admit pool. It is this process you should spend
your time on.

I highly suggest scheduling a one-on-one meeting with an admissions counselor because they get to know you and you get the chance to create a lasting impression upon them so they can see your name and remember your face.

This thread was made in 2008… pretty sure the OP has finished college and is moving on or in grad school.
