When's a good time to take the CPA exam?

Im a rising senior and got a consultant job at a big 4 firm in Japan. I am planning to have over 120 credits and a major in accounting.

From talking with the firm, they seem to value the fact that one has passed the exam rather than actually having the CPA certification (because the firm is in Japan obviously and my duties wont entail signing audit reports).

This means that I will be able to take the test in any state (so no 150 required) and won't have to worry about work experience hours.

When would be a good time to take the tests given my situation? Should I study for the exam during my senior year alongside my accounting courses that I take in school and take the exam right after I graduate or should I start studying after graduating? I actually like the idea of getting the exam over with b4 working.

Any opinions?

Consultant job? Are you talking about ERS or internal audit? Otherwise why would you need a CPA?

Transfer Pricing.

Its better to have CPA on the resume than not. I dont NEED it but I want it.

What the hell is that some advisory job?

lol yes. its part of international tax.

Basically deals with cross-border transactions.

If it's part of the tax department, then yea you should probably get the CPA. It's a lot easier to study during your senior year probably.
