Where are you in AP Bio?

I feel like we're moving at an extremely slow pace because my teacher is new to teaching AP, and he constantly pushes tests back. Right now we are doing Prokaryotes/Eukaryotes in the Campbell book.

we are doin DNA replication and whatever goes along with it…

I got a 5 in Bio last year, and I only read 17 of the chapters in the Campbell book. I’m not saying to take it easy but if you’ve had a good biology class this year or in the previous years (with introductory biology or something), than you’ll find the test to be a lot easier than you think it is. However, I did a lot of self studying because my teacher was new and wasn’t that great to top it off. Get a decent prep book (I used Princeton Review) and read it through thoroughly once or twice. That’s what I did once I realized I could never finish the text book in time by myself.

Also web resources:
Sparknotes.com pretty much has an abridged version of the text book (for free).

[Khan Academy](http://www.khanacademy.org/)
Although I wasn’t aware of this site last year, I use this site for math and I swear by it. It has absolutely amazing videos! I watched about one video for Bio and it was pretty top notch. If you can watch all of them (and retain the info), you’re bound for a three at the least.

Although I am self-studying for the exam and not formally enrolled in an AP course, that does seem to be proper location in the curriculum relative to this point in the school year.

I am not sure if your school goes by the chapters in Campbell so I’ll just list all the units/chapters we have covered.

Molecules and Cells

Heredity and Evolution

Organisms and Population (currently on plants/fungus)
We covered around 30 chapters so far in Campbell Biology.

We have gone in order and are currently doing chapter 34 in Campbell’s 7th Edition.

How do you think I’ll do if I ONLY self study because i don’t bother paying attention in class since my teacher goes through useless powerpoints? I read the chapters a couple days before the test maybe once and skim it a second time. I get 96-100 on most of my tests, but that’s because my teacher lets us choose 30 out of 40 questions to answer on the tests.

Laggy internet

Magnesium if you go over Cliffs and understand most of the material you should do really well. Also, for essays use the official essay topics on apcentral.collegeboard.com.

This is tragic: we covered 19 chapters so far

I can never find the time to self-study, unfortunately.

We have covered all but plant form and function!
