<p>I understand that there are a few alumnae who dabble on this site from time-to-time, so for those of you looking who'd like to share, where are you now? What have you done since graduation (and was your Smith connection significantly involved in any of your undertakings?)</p>
<p>This is an invitation to brag ;)</p>
<p>Now that I think about it, current students could also share with us what they've done in the way of going abroad, internships, etc... that would be so appreciated. :)</p>
<p>Immediately after graduation, I moved to the Midwest and am getting a dual degree in law and urban planning. I graduate (hopefully!) in May 2009. I'd like to work in affordable housing...not sure if it'll be with a firm, a nonprofit, or a government entity...probably in DC but maybe New Orleans or Minneapolis or somewhere else! No matter where I end up, I want to get involved in the public library community, maybe by volunteering/running for the local library board of trustees. </p>
<p>Smith was involved in what grad schools I got into and which one I chose, my desire to live in DC after graduation (I did Smith's semester in Washington program, and a lot of my Smith friends now live there), and my general confidence that I can find fulfilling work and that it's ok to switch paths throughout my lifetime--that no matter what, I have the internal compass and external support network to land on my feet.</p>
<p>I'm a junior this year. </p>
<p>Spent last summer and fall on Smith's semester in washington program, had an amazing internship with a think tank in DC working on National Security/Middle East/Arab-Israeli policy issues. Now I'm abroad in London at the School for Oriental and African Studies, doing Arabic and getting some deeper Mid-East training. </p>
<p>This summer I'm probably going to be in Tunisia, interning at the U.S. embassy there, then back to Smith for senior year. </p>
<p>Prior to doing the Picker program, in between freshman and sophomore year, I interned part-time at a Congressman's local office and worked at home.</p>
