I tried looking on the website, but the page wouldn't load.

Yes; I’m certain you can do a wide range of programs but I have the sense that it is more challenging to go abroad as an engineer so you have to know really early on. Website says JHU programs are

IIT-Bombay
Seoul International
National University - Singapore
Jiao Tong (Shanghai)
Tsinghua (Beijing)
Univ of Auckland (NZ)
Univ of New South Wales (Sydney, AUS)
Technical Univ of Munich (GER)
Hebrew Univ (Jerusalem)
Univ of Edinburgh (Scotland)

you can spend a year at Cambridge if you are from MIT, Stanford, Berkeley and Caltech.

if you’re from JHU and you want to spend a semester or year in Asia, then the ff schools:

U of Tokyo
National University of Singapore
Nanyang Technological University
University of the Philippines
De La Salle University, Philippines
U of Malaya

OH, I thought you could only study abroad at JHU’s campuses in Singapore/China/Italy. Thanks so much for all the help! :)

Any sense of how common it is for Hopkins engineering students to study abroad for a semester or year (as opposed to during winter or summer breaks)?

I would say it’s less common for those in the Engineering School to study abroad for a year (or for any period of time) than for those in the Arts and Sciences. I have no statistics to back this up, that’s just the feeling I get on campus. Come to think of it, I can’t think of any engineering students who have studied abroad.

Here’s a scholarship for JHU Engineers to go abroad:

[Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering](http://engineering.jhu.edu/vredenburg-scholarship/)

I would agree that it’s less common for engineers to study abroad during the school year, but a good number still do (I know people who went to England, China and Australia). A lot of engineers do, however, find research opportunities abroad and are funded through programs like the Vredenburg scholarship (see WealthOfInformation’s link) or through the lab they will be working in.

Is it possible for engineering students to study abroad somewhere in the Middle East?
