I;m an korean-american who attends a korean high school
So when I apply, I apply as a american.Not a international.
I get my GPA about 2.8/:(
AP maco micro world history all 4
SAT 2200
SATII worldhistory780/literature800/chinese with listening800/math2770/writing780/biology780

What kind of universities or liberal art schools do you guys thing
I can apply?
MY goal is to major in English Literature.................
HelP!...........

A 2.8 GPA with those SAT scores? What's up?

There are plenty of different universities you can apply to. What are your EC's etc. like and what universities/colleges have taken your interest so far?

I started studying very late because I never had a goal before plus I had some family problems and stuff.
So....I didn't really pay attention to my GPA's ;;
I really studied hard to cover my GPA with sat,sat2,and APs. ;;
I don't have much EC...
I teached english for 5years to korean kids and adults
I teached korean for about 6 month to an ameriacan
I have been a class president for 1semester.
I was is a economics study club
I have a taekwondo dan.
I'll attend a model UN on this coming august.....
Does these help? ;; :(
I was thinking of
amherst liberal arts college
university of Florida
Boston university
temple university.........
Are they to tough for me?;;;
Stantford is almost impossible....right? TT

You can not get in those schools with a 2.8(except for Temple). Stanford would laugh your application all the way into their auto reject pile. Your best option is Community College for a couple years. Study hard and get a great GPA. If you do this with those scores any school may be in your reach-even Stanford and Ivys.

wow thank you for your advise.:)
I'm living abroad so I don't really know much about community college
Is there any O.k communitiy college?
Plus does it means that I can't apply as a freshman and have to transfer?
How much years would it take?

it may be slightly possible to get into Stanford with what you've got going for you. I'm no expert, but I assume that your great test scores might be able to average out your GPA. (would anyone want to confirm or deny this statement?) and since you said you had personal/family problems that led to your bad GPA, you could write about that in your essays which might also soften the negative impact your GPA will have on your application.

So, why not just go for it? If Stanford rejects you, the most you lose it 75 bucks. But if you get in...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it so much easier to apply as an American than an Asian? The admissions office expect a lot more out of international students, I think.

And seriously, that GPA...isn't very good. It's your junior year, and you probably have only one or two more chances to raise your GPA before the admissions officers see it. However! That doesn't mean you won't get in. I've never encountered anyone with that GPA and a hope for Stanford before, so I don't have any examples I can tell you.

You might want to lower your standards a little, just so you won't get disappointed at the results. But hey, Hippo724's right. All you'll lose is 74 bucks. Plus you can excuse your GPA in your essay.

Anyway, there are really not many "good community colleges" I think the phrase itself is a paradox, actually.

Why don't you shoot for state universities? Like Colorado University at Denver?

thanx hippo724
actually I was searching for a community college.:)
75bucks is the most I lose so trying won't be bad....
besides transfering is more tough isn't it?
But still i think I would need to find a good cc first to transfer or..whatever..

Well, technically, you can apply anywhere.......*

If you somehow like Arizona, you could definitely get into UArizona, or Arizona State or Northern Arizona State. We're not that big on education, but you can get a pretty decent education at UArizona, I think (it bets the University of Grenada!)

Minus the UC's. I know you were thinking about Stanford, and then I was going to suggest a lower UC, but I realized you can't even apply; they have a very strict policy on GPA.

BU's college of general studies may be something to look into. Your GPA is a decent amount below average but your SAT's are way above average so maybe it'd even out.
