I applied to IIT and saw the update of admitted status yesterday midnight. Although, I can’t see any scholarship awarded to me in the tracker.
Can I see the scholarship awarded in the tracker or will I get that in email/mail?
P.S. - International applicant from India, major: CS
I just got my response email of being accepted (it was in spam btw) and they told me in that email that I received a scholarship. It should be the same for you. Good luck!
@Lambchoppi6, yeah, I too received an email stating the scholarship of international merit scholarship. Wont get any need based. But I cant see that anywhere else, like in the portal they gave access to (or at least I cant find it).
Also, does IIT send mail to accepted students? Or is it just the email?
Btw, how much scholarship u got?
Oh! Sorry, I misunderstood. They’re going to send packets with more information about our total package. I didn’t see anywhere on the portal that listed our total aid, but I imagine that once they look at our FAFSA, they’ll actually list prices on there. Also, they are supposed to send actual mail, but as of now I haven’t recieved any. Someone at the admissions office assured me that more information WOULD be sent though.
Congratulations on your scholarship btw! I recieved 27,500, which can possibly be renewed. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it! How much did you recieve, if you don’t mind my asking?
@Lambchoppi6 well since I’m international applicant, I dont have a FAFSA so thats a negative for me there. I got $22,500 scholarship, after asking they said that international applicant are given only international merit scholarship and maximum of that is $25,000. So, can’t complain much there. Will contact them regarding that package.
Btw, your major?
Sorry! Me and assuming haha. I’m sure you’ll recieve some sort of financial aid. And that’s amazing! You almost got all you could possibly get!
I’m going for chemical engineering. Yourself?
@Lambchoppi6 Computer Science. I guess I might or maybe not, as far as I saw in their website, all aids are for residents or citizens. Still, hopes up!
Really? I obviously don’t know much about that haha, but either way, you DESERVE some aid. Anyway, good luck!
FAFSA is for domestic students only and will determine the amount of Federal aid that is available. For International students this last is not available at any university in the US.
Merit aid is given to all students who deserve it as this is an Illinois Tech decision and we are a private institution. International students can get this and if you already have the maximum noted on the web site, obtaining more is not a given. You need to discuss it with the Admission Office but don’t expect too much adjustment.
