exactly that question =P or is it only for premium members? also, is there anywhere i can find rankings for certain programs (EE, AE, ME, ect)

The way of seeing the actual engineering rankings on US News site, which includes rankings by the majors you list, is to pay the premium. You could also purchase (and it is still available at many book and magazine places) the annual magazine publication in which USNews provides its rankings.

i have the book from 05, but it doesnt have engineering specific rankings...

what a flippin ripoff, i just want to know top 50 engineering schools and top 25-50 EE schools...basically, i want to know how VT, UVA, and UT-Austin compare

That book does have the top 50 engineering list (see pages 115 to 116) broken down between colleges without PhD programs and those with. However, it appears to do only the top 5 for the specialties. You could pick up the graduate school book which does the specialty rankings for grad schools. Those differ somewhat from the undergrad but the lists are similar. As to EE undergrad, those three are in the top 21 with Texas ranked somewhat higher than the other two which are essentially ranked the same.

Lists have been posted all the time on CC, try searching for the rankings.

I agree 100% with shoebox10

UVA, VT, and UT-Austin..... :)

And yep, you have to pay a premium or buy the book!

fan of uva, vt, and ut eh?

and i have the 05 book, and i cant find crap

Don't worry about US News and World Report rankings.

To have a better indicator of decnt engineering schools go to http://www.abet.org

They don't rank schools, but no program is listed on their site unless it meets ABET's strict accreditation criteria.
