Any good colleges/university I can go to take college courses for affordable prices in Bergen County, NJ or Manhattan, NY? I'm not in school due to academic dismissal and I want to be able to go take college courses and show my school that I can do well and I snapped back to reality. I want then to know that I can do just as well as other students.

Are you intending to stay at this new school, or are you planning on attending just until you’re allowed to go back? I think any community college in those areas should work–I would contact your school and ask them what kind of classes they’d like to see you take (eg: prereqs for your major, ones you didn’t do well in, etc.) I know this one’s a bit further away, but I’ve heard that Nassau CC has a good transfer rate if you’re looking at other schools as well.

Best of luck!

Go to your local cc - Bergen County Community College.

Depends on what’s affordable to you. There are several colleges in Manhattan - you could take non-degree classes at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), and that would be cheapest. Baruch, Hunter, and City Colleges are all in Manhattan and you could take classes there cheaper than anywhere else, even if you are a non-resident of NY. If you can travel a little bit into Brooklyn, Bronx, or Queens, you could also go to Hostos Community College (in the Bronx), LaGuardia Community College (in Queens) or the New York City College of Technology (in Brooklyn).

In Bergen County, there’s Bergen Community College and Ramapo for the publics; and there’s Fairleigh Dickinson, which is a private. Nearby Hudson County has Hudson County CC and New Jersey City University; Essex County has Essex CC, Montclair State University, New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers-Newark, as well as Seton Hall (private). Passaic County has Passaic County CC and William Paterson University, which is also public.
