Our USMMA kids are USNR (U.S. Naval Reserve). They have I military ID, I guess.
Do THEY get the discount? I see the Active Duty and DOD stuff, but am wondering if our kids qualify.

PS> My only tidbit about Disney travel... if you have the chance, Prepay the meal plan (about $40/day or so). You WILL save money, you WILL eat yourself silly, and you WILL wonder how you have som many snacks_options left by the time you leave.... We got a whole boatload of sandwiches and stuff for the drive back. (It was the first time we'd staye On-property... and it was really great).

Our kids get the DoD ID. It's the same as Active except is says "Reserve." I guess some of the kids have their ID now. Son was suppose to get his 2 weeks ago, but the machine has been broke, so not sure if he got it as of today.

Z~ the meal plan is changing come Jan '08 ~ so it is debatable if it is still as great of a deal, it just depends on how your family may eat. So, do your research.

I think they do qualify, but I could never get any set answers. I have also given up on my DS joining us for our annual Disney vacations for the next few years. He would rather stay HOME and relax than do a Disney vacation. I can't understand that thinking... but whatever ?!?

And I have also given up on having DS join us for the discount part :)

Shades of Green is really hard to get into, and you need to know your schedule too far in advance to get in easily. And with the USMMA schedule, it just isn't happening anytime soon.

And yes, Shades of Green is in FL.

I always recommend that if you have any questions regarding Disney, visit either mousesavers.com for discounts, allears.net for planning information, and the disboards.com for a forum to ask any other question that you may have.

Just be careful in your posting and don't mention anything like pool hopping, re-using mugs, or fitting more people than allowed in the room. That will get you flamed, big time.

'Zounds, Royce DM !
Everything about Disney is SPOT ON, and you mentioned some websites I'd never found... And I thought I found them all last spring when I looked around.

Go ahead, you can tell us. We won't mention it to ANYone.
You really sleep in Mickey Mouse Ears, don't you ;)

Thanks for the tips, and you too SuzanneGra.

yep, I admit it, my mouse ears are attached each night.

Along with my mickey mouse watch, mickey earrings, Key Lanyard with the mouse, and my office is decorated in Disney stuff. DH doesn't like all the disney stuff, so I keep it at work, as best I can.

Oh, and for Halloween DS11 is Fantasia Mickey (costume bought off of ebay last year, it is SO cool!) DD7 is Tinkerbell, and DD5 is Minnie Mouse.

Oh and DH is Donald Duck, and I am Daisy Duck..... when we need to dress up.

the marlin spike is not a necessity, all the ropes at sea have already been spliced and at no time is the marlin spike ever used besides that, so i wouldnt worry about it when picking out a knife

A Split & B Split refers to the "term" that the Mids go to sea. For example, the "A" Split's just left for Sea at the end of the fall finals (yesterday or today). You son should know what split he has already. Mine is on A, so next year now he'll be on his way for his sea adventure.

It was much easier to differentiate when it was 1-3 or 2-4. Back in the day of the quarter system (pre 1998) it was A or B and it was based on if you were gone for the first half of the year or the second half of the year. When they introduced the trimester system those in the class of 2000 were still A/B and they made us in 2001 the 1-3 or 2-4. 1-3 was if you went out for the 1st and 3rd sea periods (JUN-NOV & MAR-NOV) or if you were out for the 2nd and fourth sea periods (NOV-MAR & NOV-JUN).

I'm not sure why they went back to the A/B designations...maybe took too much time to type out 1-3 and 2-4 :)

That was an interesting transition to say the least when we had our plebe year in the quarter system and the rest of the years in a trimester system. Only people it was worse for was the class of 2000. Also had a transition from an Admiral who knew nobody's name to one who knew everyone's (Mattison to Stewart).

My DS suggested that perhaps the B before A ment that the A Split mids started their academics on campus first (in June at the beginning of the term) and the B split did not start them until after the academic year started (in November), hence they were 2nd on campus or B. Sounded logical to me!

Just a short note to let you know that I spoke to PJMOM2011 this evening out in San Diego. Her house was not burned, but she was evacuated in the middle of the night last Monday. She was able to return to it this past Friday. Her DS is home and safe, as is the rest of her family. I told her that we were all thinking of her out there in that fire storm. Just wanted to let all her CC friends in on the good news.

"B Split= at sea: July- November second year
March- November, end of second year through first part
of third year

A Split= at sea: November-March second year
July- March third year"

Not so:

B Split is correct. A Split is at sea November to March of second year as stated, but second sea period is November to July of third year.

In layman's terms, B Split is at sea Fall trimester of sophmore and junior years, plus Spring trimester of sophmore year. A Split is at sea Winter trimester of both years plus Spring trimester junior year.
