Where do i go now?

Can someone help me out.
This is my situation.
I am a California resident and was accepted to UC Irvine, UC Riverside, and U-Michigan Ann Arbor.

Im seeking a health career and because of that my decision is very important.
I will be applying to a graduate school later on.

The best school out of these is without a doubt Umich.
The estimated grant money i will receive for it is $14,900
and with work-study, perkins loans it will total at $23,000.
The cost of attendance is like $43,000.
The school is far and cold, but ann arbor is one of the best college towns.

Is it worth going there with out of state tuition?
UC riverside will be implementing a new medical school.
The california public schools are going down as we know it.
Because of this I WANT TO GO TO ANN ARBOR(also because i like it), but money may be an issue. So i am considering UCI and UCR.
Also my parents are really pushing me to stay!
I wanted to stay, but the schools i wanted to go to (UCB, UCLA) rejected me.
I may apply as a transfer later on.
will staying in the UC system help me apply as a transfer?

Im kind of frustrated, just want to know if im making the right decision for the right reasons. I may be upsetting my parents.
Any input would be appreciated.

I would post this question on the UCI and UCR forums. You will get some feedback from current students and parents of students at these schools. I do know someone who transferred from UCSC to Berkeley as B was her dream school and she never gave up. I would also post on the Michigan page to get some feedback there. In the end it is your decision. You parents know you applied to Michigan so they must have been supportive of you going there. If you can swing it financially and thats where you want to go don’t cave in. Your the one going to school for 4 years, not them. I am a parent and feel as long as the family can afford it the student should go where they want to go, not where the parents want them to go. Good Luck.

$80K in loans is too much. Stay in state.

Stay in state and go to UC-Irvine. It’s an outstanding school, has that new med school, and will give you the education you want (and a lot more.) And you’ll graduate without the massive debt for UofM. Believe me, your post-BA life will be much better because of it! And while it’s true that the UCs are suffering right now, they are still excellent, and they are certainly not alone in facing huge budget problems: most public universities are suffering now.

thanks for your advice.
i will pursue my inquiry further.
Im really thinking about staying now. thank you.
