Can someone help me out.
This is my situation.
I am a California resident and was accepted to UC Irvine, UC Riverside, and U-Michigan Ann Arbor.

Im seeking a health career and because of that my decision is very important.
I will be applying to a graduate school later on.

The best school out of these is without a doubt Umich.
The estimated grant money i will receive for it is $14,900
and with work-study, perkins loans it will total at $23,000.
The cost of attendance is like $43,000.
The school is far and cold, but ann arbor is one of the best college towns.

Is it worth going there with out of state tuition?
UC riverside will be implementing a new medical school.
The california public schools are going down as we know it.
Because of this I WANT TO GO TO ANN ARBOR(also because i like it), but money may be an issue. So i am considering UCI and UCR.
Also my parents are really pushing me to stay!
I wanted to stay, but the schools i wanted to go to (UCB, UCLA) rejected me.
I may apply as a transfer later on.
will staying in the UC system help me apply as a transfer?

Im kind of frustrated, just want to know if im making the right decision for the right reasons. I may be upsetting my parents.
Any input would be appreciated.

This is the first major decision you are going to make in life. You must realize that it is your life that you are living and not your parents’. You must be extremely selfish in your choice, else you will regret your decision. You know what to do.

The UC’s are not good about allowing inter-university transferring. If you really want that UCLA or UCB diploma you should start at a community college in CA. It is MUCH easier to transfer once you have 60 credits (or units). They will flat out tell you that they view the UC’s as equals (same with the CSU’s). It’s something you most definitely want to consider if you make your decision to go to a UC and transfer.

I might be wrong, but being a California resident, I have heard that UC merced and possibly UCRiverside do have a program where you can transfer to another UC after two years…

Setting that aside, U-M has a great reputation! Although the $49,000 total price tag is very unappealing it still is a great school. I am not completely sure of the opportunity cost (ability to get classes/apply into the school you want to major in, which in my opinion is a bit of a gamble, [same with the UCs]). But in the end it is your ultimate decision…

for me umich will cost around 31,000
and UCI 14,000
,thats total.
last year my sister paid 28,000 for berkeley and shes in state.
