Where do I have a chance at?

Hello, folks. At the moment, I'm a junior at a somewhat highly ranked public school in Pennsylvania. Despite being considered a great school, there are very few AP classes offered, and all but two of them can't be taken before senior year. The rank of classes from most difficult to least is AP, Honors, College Prep, Tech Prep, Career Prep.

That being said, I'd like to get some suggestions of schools in the Mid-Atlantic region (Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Washington, D.C.) that I'd actually have a chance at.

My classes and grades since Freshman year:

9th Grade
Honors Algebra II - B
German II College Prep - A
Honors English - A
College Prep General Science - A
Honors American History - A
Word and Powerpoint - A

10th Grade
College Prep Geometry - A
German III Honors - A
Honors English - A (I think)
College Prep Biology - B
Honors American History II - A
Excel and Access - A
Health - A
Cooking - B (I don't know how I did that)

11th Grade(predicted averages at the end)
College Prep Precalculus - A
German IV Honors - A
Honors English - A
College Prep Chemistry - A
Honors World History - B
AP Statistics - B
Advanced Office - B
Marketing - A
Money Management - A

Next Year's Classes
College Prep Calculus
German V Honors (weighted as AP)
Honors Humanities (weighted as AP)
College Prep Physics
Honors Politics and Economics
AP American History
History of American Film
College Prep Behavioral Science

Anticipated AP exams - Statistics, German, American History

My GPA is a 3.77, and my rank is 60th out of 602, which is in the top ten percent.

I botched my SAT's last year (for more reasons than just being dumb, I hope, ie; lack of sleep, lack of understanding of leaving answers blank, lack of time management) but have been preparing like mad in hopes of achieving higher scores when I take them in May. 640CR 560M(I've reviewed like nuts) 620W

In June, I'm taking the SAT II's for English Lit, German, and Biology.

Extracurriculars include: I'm in the National Honors Society and am running for Secretary (hope I get it), I'm treasurer of the History Club at school, I've received awards for a German oral exam and a written exam. Second place in the speaking one and 85th percentile in the written one. I did Quizbowl for a year. I've got a part-time job that I've held for almost a year. That's about it...:-/

I'm not interested in anything in particular yet and plan on going in undeclared. Possible majors are German, Biology, Film...

What places could I go for? Where would I stand a chance? Thanks.

I don't know if it helps, but I'm a white female from Pennsylvania.

Creed, some to look at would be PSU, Pitt, Ursinus, St. Lawrence University (NY), Drew (NJ), Loyola (MD), Syracuse, Ithaca, Allegheny, HWS (Hobart William Smith- NY), Ithaca and Rutgers. All of these schools have the three areas/courses that you are interested in. I think you would have very good chances at all of them. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. Does anyone know how much of a reach Gettysburg College would be? If I am able to up my SAT scores, would I stand a chance there?

I beleive that Gettysburg is SAT optional. I think that F&M and Dickinson are also. It would be worth looking into them.

Yep, all SAT optional.

I also would suggest that you look at McDaniel College in Maryland. It's right over the PA border. The SAT is optional. It also has nice merit opportunities.

How much are my SATs holding me back? It's so frustrating that I suck so badly with standardized testing. The most recent practice test I took, I scored a 1980. If I could get it up to a 2000, would my chances increase at some of the "better" colleges?

It might help a bit, but you shouldn't stress out if you're looking at SAT optional schools and in-state schools such as Pitt, PSU, etc.

hi creed. I think you should also consider signing up for the ACT. You might find that test more to your liking, and most of the schools would accept the ACT as well. Good luck!

Poi has some good suggestions, but you should add some reaches/high reaches in there... like-

Georgetown
NYU
Princeton
UPenn
