where do most people live?

I may transfer to UCLA as a junior and i was wondering....

i hear the santa monica area is expensive so where do most ucla students live?

what are some neighborhoods or cities known for popularity among ucla kids?

and what are the most desirable/fun neighborhoods in LA in general for college stuents?

thanks guys....

i think most live in dorms or apartments around campus just for convenience. some live a bit farther away because of cheaper rent, but transportation becomes an issue. and of course there are commuters that commute from all around the greater LA region.

Well, http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/hhh/ to give you an idea of rent.

Being familiar with the bus routes that go near campus is helpful when figuring out cheaper locations for apartments (e.g. Culver City).
North Village (where all the apartments are located) is where the non on-campus housing students usually flock to. It's practically like the Hill/dorms area except... "off-campus." Heck, it lies adjacent to the Hill too.

Fun neighborhood? North Village is fine since it's occupied by your fellow Bruins with the convenience of Frat parties on Thursday nights on Landfair.

Junior transfers are guaranteed a place in the dorms for at least one year. And there are lots of student apartments in Westwood if you want to live elsewhere
