Where do you buy your clothes?

Men and women, where do you buy your clothes?

wal-mart
7-11

I haggle with bums on street corners.

the internet

nordstrom, bloomingdales

Where I see them and where they’re not ridiculously expensive.

I’m a big fan of outlet centers. I tend to hit them up once a year and that’s when I get most of my stuff.

Everything else is pretty much on sale at the mall when I like it.

Ross is awesome, if you have the time. So was the 20% employee discount. And so was finding the flats I wanted for $13 as opposed to the $50 they charged at the DSW next door. Forever 21 isn’t too expensive either and keeps my wardrobe looking current.

All of my girl friends say that Forever 21 stuff is great and cheap but falls apart practically immediately. True story?

Within a one block radius in center city Philadelphia.

Target has good clothes, IMO. My favorite t-shirt is from there.

Abercrombie and Fitch.

Ross is so annoying. Clothes everywhere, out of order, people bumping into you rudely. When I go in there I feel like I walked into a tornado.

I’d probably shop at Forever 21 if I had any sense of style. But since I’m a t-shirt and jeans kind of person, I don’t.

I have a hard time finding jeans that fit right, but American Eagle always gets the job done. And Target is awesome. Once college starts I’ll probably shop at vintage or independent stores because I refuse to shop at American Apparel and all the other crappy or overpriced chain stores near my campus.

^ modestmelody: Dude, yeah. But I know that when I’m going in there. I’ll buy tees and non complicated cardigans/sweaters, but I wouldn’t ever by anything with a more complicated construction than that. I’ve heard of heels snapping. Once, I bought a necklace that broke in 20 minutes.
‘Tarjay’ is awesome as well. The Go international plan was genius on their part, and I’m definitely taking advantage. But their employee discount was only 10% :p.

Abercrombie and Fitch is loud and smells awful.

^^ Ross prices are worth it. Come on, where else could you find brand new Dolce Vita heels for $15? You don’t even want to know how much those were at UO (which is ridiculously overpriced.) And there is virtually no difference between department store clothing and the choices offered at Ross.

Regarding Forever 21: I haven’t had problems with any of my clothes from there so far.

“Sorry, but the store music level and scent level are mandated by the corporate office, and I have no control over them.”

I have to tell that to customers pretty often. Usually annoying emo kids who come in just to harass us.

The music level is pretty loud (80 dB) but you get used to it after an hour or so. The scent I can’t even smell anymore. Personally I don’t mind the atmosphere of the store, but even if you do, the clothes are amazing and awesome and worth it

Yes! I will never buy anything from Forever 21 again. I know their clothes are cheap, so I didn’t get any clothes but I did buy a couple bracelets, necklaces, etc. Everything last thing I purchased broke within the first three days and they refused to accept a return since “I” damaged the product. Right, I run around stomping on bracelets for fun. That’s my hobby.

Ugh. I hate that cheap ass store.

Anyway, regarding the actual question:
Nordstrom, Barney’s, Macy’s and Free People are where I shop now. At least their products are of decent quality and they won’t give the third degree about returns (particularly Nordstrom. Nordstrom’s has a [unadvertised] policy that they will always accept anything back, no questions asked.)

At a store.

Thrift stores! I just bought brand new shorts for $3.50 and some T-shirts for around the same price. It takes some time to sort through all the worn bad-quality clothes and old-people clothes in thrift stores, but I’ve found some great things. The only bad thing is once I get used to paying extremely low prices in thrift stores, all other prices seem to be outrageously high…

J Crew, Ralph Lauren, Rugby, Gap, Nordstroms, Nike
