I want to do something with my career that will help people. I want to go to college at a place that will help me do that. I want to live up North, but I also want to help people in third-world countries. So... not sure. Whatever ends up.

Really not sure yet, but I think it'd be cool to go to Oxbridge. I'd like to travel a lot, maybe something in international relations or politics after that? Something fun and interesting!

michigan, haha, screw the ivies...:)

that's cool that you're interested in oxbridge... I really wanted to apply, but it's complicated. the problem I ran up against was that going into senior year I had taken 3 AP's (they recommend 4,5 or more) and so that's what I would have been applying to Oxbridge with (because i wouldn't have the scores from the 6 ap's that I took senior year until after I got my decision) so the year to have applied, in my case, was this past year (my freshman year in college), but the deadline was October and I didn't have my act together.
I guess this really isn't my forum because I've graduated from boarding school already BUT nevertheless after college I want to work at an investment bank and then when I get sick of that, go back and teach at my boarding school.

What college do you go to, prepschool06? What boarding school did you go to?

A good school. I'm not sure where exactly, though.

You know you want to go to MIT... ^^^

I have this crazy fascination about global warming, so I want to be a scientist that'll find some way to slow it down. But it'll probably change cause I never know what I want to be...

When I was a kid, I had tons of peculiar things I want to grow up to be:

a bus driver
a butler
a pilot
a comedian
a musician
the list goes on and on...

chunky - PLEASE don't become one of those pilots who thinks he's a comedian! :)

Yale....i won get in so thats why i dream
my most reasonable choice...Mcgill....yeah go quebecers...i wish i were one...

Right now I want to go to Georgetown SFS, UPenn Hunstman, Harvard, Queens School of Commerce in Kingston, ON, Columbia, or NYU-Stern.

I want to go into either international relations or economics. After a few years doing something like that, I'd like to go law school.

Ha, ChunkyT, beat this:

I wanted to be a Ballerina-FBI Agent... I couldn't decide between the two, so I figured that I would wear the tutu AND the gun holster (wasn't concerned about employment). And then I wanted to be an entomologist, but then decided on being a myrmecologist (scientific study of ants), so I started my own little laboratory (in practice age 4-5), until I again switched careers to lepidopterist (moths, butterflies), and then decided to be an actual girl around age 6.

Journalist/writer (esp. muckraking) is the career I've kept my eyes on for the longest time, as well as being a lawyer (but I'm picky, and would really only want to domuckraking-like cases, which is unrealistic, exp. as an entire career, assuming I wish to make a living off of it).

I just want to go to a school that fits me.. as of now, Brown seems to fit me perfectly because of the location, policies, and activism amongst the student body (esp. pertaining to education reform, which I plan to pursue). Regrettably, Brown has become more popular recently, so it is increasingly more competitive to get in (I hope this doesn't greatly change the school), so it's a crapshoot, and I would never set any hope on it. I also love Amherst. Wherever I go, I would spend a lot of time abroad (ideally), in Buenos Aires, Fez, Tibet, and C'ote d'Ivoire (if the civil war ends by the time I'm in college). So, the actual college's prestige isn't that important to me because I would be spending so much time elsewhere.

The Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics (of Naropa University in Boulder, CO) is another one I'm eyeing, but I would only go there for a term or so to focus on writing (the most amazing and extensive writing courses I have ever read about), philosophy (leading university of contemplative education), psychology (lots of alternative and experimental psychology studies and courses), yoga (not only in practice, but in the classroom as well..like the anatomy of yoga, etc.) and Buddhism (one of the four US universities founded by a Buddhist, who escaped after the Chinese invasion to spread the word of the dharma). But it's too small for me to attend for all 4 years. I would like to balance this extremely alternative and experimental education w/ Harvard or something. That would be something.. getting the best of both worlds (traditional and avante-garde). Although, Oxford is much more traditional than Harvard...

I also like Georgetown, but I don't know. I would like to go though, because of the DC proximity, international studies and students, etc., and because I would feel closer to my grandfather (who went there), which is stupid, but true.. people do it all the time.

Wow, that's long.. my fingers have a life of their own.. coupled w/ 3 coffees.. and an abrasively long to-do list..

Duke, Georgetown, Yale, Columbia (In no particular order)

I'll probably keep changing my mind, but these are some I'm considering right now.

Havard, NYU, Columbia, or UPenn

As I said, John, I want to go to a good school. ;)

wow, jonathan, you seem to have everything well-researched and planned by the tender grade of 8. lol...ok i wont make fun of your age anymore...

before i actually know about getting into HYP, i wanted to go to yale.

now i want to go to georgetown...or maybe dartmouth/brown. i used to want to go to wellesley, but now that i go to an all-girls school, though i love it, i seriously think that my hormones will be unable to endure another four years at an all-girls school...

UPenn-Wharton!!!

i'd love dartmouth!

Hmmmm...I notice that Vanderbilt seems to be missing from this board, so that's one of mine. Additionally, I also like Duke, NYU-Stern (the location is absolutely spectacular for an internship at Goldman Sachs...hah, I know, I'm dreaming), UPenn (preferably Wharton, but I don't think I'll get in, so I'll probably try for College of Arts and Sciences instead), and if I randomly decide to pursue something fine arts related, Ithaca and Julliard.
