where does hamilton college stand in LACs?

hamilton has been in the nescac and is now fully in it. But i was wondering where it stood within LACs. is it more in line with the nescacs (midd bowdoin colby etc,) or do people still associate it with schools like union and skidmore, which are not as good. obviously hamilton isn't as "good" as amherst or williams, but is it viewed in this higher rank or not?

Hamilton is ranked 16th in the LAC’s nationally. Which should put it in the middle of the nescacs. Certainly a top tier institution.

any other responses?

Very well respected especially for writing, but not quite in the Pomona, Amherst, SWAT, Williams category.

Long thread about Hamilton here:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1387882-why-doesnt-hamilton-recieve-much-public-prestige-others.html?highlight=hamilton

I would say that it certainly is within the ranks of the rest of the NESCACs. Above Trinity and Conn Col, on par with Bates and Colby, just below Amherst, Williams et. al.

NESCAC school rankings (US News 2013):

Williams 2. Amherst 3. Middlebury 4. Bowdoin 5T: Hamilton 5T: Wesleyan 7. Colby 8. Bates 9. Trinity 10. Connecticut College

Tufts is not considered a LAC in these rankings.

So Hamilton is definitely up there with the top LACs and as previously stated is #16 in the country for LACs.

Those nescac rankings are very interesting. Did not know Hamilton was higher ranked than Wesleyan and Bates!

Hamilton also just landed at #8 on Princeton Review’s Best Value Colleges (the top 10 list)- the only other NESCAC to do so was Williams (#3).
