Yale's not my first choice-- and, because of my 1980 SAT score, sort of a reach.
I'm applying to Wellesley, Smith, and Swarthmore! :)

i withdrew JHU, Williams, Gtown and Umich--keeping Pton and Harvard, just because I'd really like the chance to get to know all the campuses/people better (via admitted students weekends) before i make the decision of my life. who knows?

right now though, i'm pretty in love with yale--odds are that i will be in new haven come september!

thank god i didn't have to finish dartmouth, cornell, amherst etc!! i've been enjoying my app-free winter break :)

@Sopralto86: we were talking about SCEA admits who are also applying elsewhere ...

Ah, sorry. :)

I'm applying to Princeton, hoping for better financial aid that I can give to Yale and ask for a review of the aid they gave me (I believe a mom somewhere on this forum said that worked for her). Does getting into one Ivy help you at all getting into another?

I'm also applying Rice, Claremont McKenna, and Colorado Colleges for scholarships. U of M and MSU for the same reason.

desiw - thank you so much for defending us. I felt as if I was committing a sin by not withdrawing my applications, your post truly made me feel so much better about myself.

desiw: you have to realize that nobody is taking your spot. This is SCEA, not ED, which I'm sure you realize does not bind the student to attend Yale and withdraw all other apps. I don't know how many accepted SCEAers absolutely, positively know for sure that they will attend Yale and not any other school. We are talking about 17 year old kids who are about to make a monumental decision by May 1st. Of course it's very possible that their choice might change in April if they get into another school of their dreams and actually visit it extensively (overnight, couple of days) to get a real feel for the school. It just isn't practicable to make such extensive visits to schools that you haven't gotten into yet. So everyone please back off the accepted SCEA students and stop pressuring them to withdraw all other apps. If your app is strong enough, you will get into may fine schools, regardless of whether or not someone else withdrew his/her app.

Completely agreed.
Personally, I withdrew my applications to all the schools that I would for sure not attend over Yale. That left three schools: Harvard, Princeton, and Stanford. Each of these three schools offers something that Yale lacks: Harvard is much stronger in my prospective major and the name really can't be beat when it comes to employers, Princeton is much closer to home (a huge pro for me) and I do very much like its intimate suburban feel that closely resembles my small-town upbringing, and my dad cannot stop praising Stanford- his alma mater- for its unique culture and strength in a closely related field to my prospective major.
So even though I LOVELOVELOVELOVE Yale's unique culture, I'm just not sure I'm ready to commit yet. My visit to Yale lasted only three hours. Harvard's was two and Princeton's four. I want to make sure I end up at the best school for me.

Dari09 - glad to help make you feel better.
Pianista - you are wisely taking your time with this important decision.
My S also just kept 3 apps active for reasons similar to yours. He decided not to submit the other 12.
To all SCEAers - congrats on your wonderful accomplishment! You will have the month of April to seriously visit all the schools you get into. Then you will be in a better position to make a fully informed decision about where you will spend your next 4 yrs. You should be enjoying the rest of your senior year. Don't let anyone make you feel guilty about not withdrawing apps to schools you are also considering.

I was accepted EA at Georgetown and UMich and RD UCF. I also applied to Harvard and UFla. If I am denied for H and Y I will definitely be going to Georgetown. But the three are all kind of my number ones.

Just Harvard for me. If I get in, I'll revisit both schools and attempt to get a better feel.
