Dear Student,

A team of college students (Princeton, Harvard, U Penn, Columbia, Northwestern, Stanford) from Asia is seeking college application essay submissions from students from Asia** who are studying in US or UK universities, or recent high school graduates who will study in US or UK universities. Many high school students in Asia who are applying to colleges in the US or UK face a relative lack of resources in crafting their college applications and especially essays. As students who have been through the exact same process recently, you can help the generation of students after you and make a positive and meaningful impact in their lives. We are looking for personal statements and creative essays in particular, and you are welcome to submit more than one essay.
If selected, your essay will be in a book named “50 Outstanding College Application Essays from Asia,” the first compilation of college application essays specifically serving high school students in Asia. Submitters can choose to be anonymous. If you submit your essay(s), regardless of whether you are selected, as a token of our appreciation, you will be provided with free admissions to all Ivy Gate –a student-run college counseling company sponsoring this contest– networking events around Asia, in which you can meet and mingle with hundreds of students and alumni from top US and UK universities. If your essay is selected to be in the book, you will also receive a prize of 300 HKD and a copy of the book once it is published. If you are selected as the 1st prize winner, 2nd prize winner or 3rd prize winner, you will receive 3000 HKD, 2000 HKD or 1000 HKD respectively.***
Essays will be judged for creativity, coherence, clarity of expression, originality, and sophistication of ideas and writing. The judges include staff members or former staff members of major college newspapers (The Harvard Crimson, The Daily Pennsylvanian, Columbia Spectator).****
To submit your college application essays, please email info@ivy-gate.com with your essays as document attachments by August 13. Please also kindly provide us with the name of the college you attend. We will notify you of the results as soon as possible.
Thank you very much!
