Where is Hanover?

I am international student and just wanted to know how to get to Hanover. I will be coming from India. Also, how close is Hanover to a big city like Boston, NY, etc

If you got into Dartmouth you should be resourceful enough to figure this out on your own.

But anyway, Dartmouth’s about two hours away from Boston and five from New York. It’s probably most convenient to fly to Logan Airport in Boston, and then take the Dartmouth Coach straight from the airport to campus.

If you would be mature enough, johnleemk, you would understand that everybody who posts in this forum does not go to Dartmouth. I will be applying for the class of 2014. I will probably be visiting the college later this year, so I just wanted to get some information on how to get there.

Thanks anyway. dip****.

dartmouth prolly has a “directions” page or a “how to get here” page on their website. go there and avoid smartasses.

You’re internet savvy enough to use a very specific forum, but not internet savvy enough to use Google?

Lighten up, folks. I never came to this part of CC before but posted something yesterday re travel and saw this when I came on this morning. My daughter went to Yale for four years and it took a long time and many trips to figure out which of the multiple ways to get there was the best – in terms of price, logistics, etc. No matter what the Internet says, there is no substitute for experience. Be nice. One day you might want to visit India and want more than what the Internet can provide.

nestled between the Connecticut River and reality. . .

If I wanted to be a dip**** I’d have not given any help at all. I’m just saying it’s strange that someone going to college would need to ask how close Hanover is to Boston or NYC when Google Maps or Wikipedia make it so easy to figure these things out on your own.

You can’t find it; Dartmouth is like Hogwarts and Disneyland combined…

Just kidding. But if you’re coming from India the closest international port is probably the Boston Logan Airport, which does international flights. There’s a Manchester NH airport that’s slightly closer, but I don’t think it takes direct international flights from India. And there are Dartmouth coaches to take you to campus from the Logan Airport.

No need to be so aggressive – johnleemk did give you good advice, and you did sound like a '13er, even if by accident. And if a '13er didn’t know where Hanover was, it would be kinda sad. Anyways enjoy your visit, Hanover is beautiful.

I just wanted some help. Instead I got johnleem telling me how stupid I was coz I didnt think of the solution to all of life’s problems(google). Well **** me !! I guess you are the wrong person to come to for help. You are the kind of guy who goes to Africa and laughs at the poor starving kids and then tells them to go to google to find out how to grown food. Why dont you go to google and figure out the meaning of this word which totally describes you- “madachod”.

im gonna back up the above posters

you’re almost certainly too stupid for dartmouth
apply if you want – but you’re better off saving the $50 or so

idiot.

Gentlemen, gentlemen . . . . Calm down.

Reasonable question for him to ask. I thought we all tried to be helpful on this forum. Goodness. Such nastiness, so early in the morning.

Isn’t it amazing how simple comments by people you have never seen and will never see ruin your mood, if only for a few seconds. I just wanted to know about how to get to dartmouth and my mood was ruined because of someone I hope never to see in my life.

Anyway, is there any way of getting to Dartmouth apart from the Dartmouth Coach? I will be in Boston a few days before I visit, so is there any train or are there any other coaches which go to dartmouth/hanover?
Thanks in advance.

I don’t know why you’re taking it so personally – I’ve never said anything insulting about you. All I said was that it’s odd that a college-level student’s first instinct is to ask for answers to questions which can easily be answered by Google.

Anyway, the Dartmouth Coach also departs from South Station (again, Google would help you here – you can look up their schedules and places they depart from) so you can stay in Boston and take the T to South Station to hop on the bus.

I’d advise against taking the train – I’m sure it’s possible but the train is usually slower, and it does not go straight to campus. You’d wind up stuck in White River Junction where you’d probably have to take an expensive cab to campus. (If I recall correctly the train only arrives after bus services cease for the day.)

I get the sense that the OP touched a nerve with the subject line “Where is Hanover?”.

whoa whoa whoa. No need to be so aggressive, as I said. johnleemk mistakenly thought you were a '13 (an assumption, but kind of a reasonable one) and reacted to that in what was admittedly a sharp way. But you’re not a '13, so the line does not apply to you. End of discussion. And just because he/she said that one line shouldn’t mean you never want to see him/her ever again in your life. Kinda harsh, no? :/

“You are the kind of guy who goes to Africa and laughs at the poor starving kids and then tells them to go to google to find out how to grow food”

LMAO. Jokes apart, not everyone in Africa is poor so please don’t generalise.

Haha this thread is hilarious.

I too have thoroughly enjoyed it.

“Well **** me !! I guess you are the wrong person to come to for help”

hahahhahahaha… Easy folks.
