Where is the RSF lower rec area?

If you get there around 9pm, I’ll be maxing out on Bench with 2 powerlifters and one other guy who should probably using a different program but isn’t because one of the other powerlifters says so (…or, at least, implies so).

And yeah, there are a reasonable number of people in there pretty much continuously. I had the room to myself a couple of times over the summer, but otherwise always had company.

…and, still possibly relevant, there was a girl on Monday doing cleans for high-rep sets (ye fool) and she was never approached. We’re talking 110lbs max (bodyweight) here.

oh nice, yeah i was planning to go around 8-9 tomorrow because i got a lot of work/club stuff to do.

yeah i wanna follow rippetoe’s starting strength word for word, but I wasn’t for the past 2 weeks in fear of being caught, so I was replacing rows with cleans. I guess I’ll start doing cleans.

I prefer the Rows version, actually, but that’s because I’m a powerlifter and not because of any particularly conclusive reason not to do Cleans.

I would recommend adding in the push-ups, inverted rows, and ab work seen in the Stronglifts 5x5, though. The benefits to work capacity and shoulder health, particularly if you’re not doing Barbell Rows as part of the main program (for the shoulder aspect, at least) are pretty important.*

*Regardless of what the people on his forum will say, this is an area of tangible benefit, and the only good reason not to do it is that you have an alternative method of accomplishing the same goal (e.g. sled dragging) on your off-days. Hell, just generally steer clear of his forum.

well, i wanted to power cleans because I used to do some olympic weight lifting and I just enjoyed the lifts so I wanna do some in my routine.

and, I dislocated my shoulder a year back and I was in a splint for about 2 months and I haven’t really been doing physical therapy although it has healed up quite nicely. Would rows work well to strengthen my shoulder? Maybe I can do rows and cleans.

i kinda want to head over to the gym at 9 and see you lift jon. haha i probably already have seen you, just don’t know who you are.

@jonnosferatu

I agree. I do; however, know what I am doing.

GOOD DAY SIR.

I feel like asking:

So, didya see me?

haha no, sorry. i went at 4 because i had to go to Oakland last night for some event. Do you usually go at 9? What days?
I used to go at night too, but I’m kind of liking the afternoon workouts a little better. Feels like I have more energy.

I went at 9, I was in the smaller room on the squat rack next to all the dumbbells

I got there around 9:30.

My partners and I train MWFSun, 8pm MFS and 9 or 9:30pm W due to sports/study obligations.

oh cool, i might see you around next monday.
