where should a poli sci girl look?

i'm a filipina girl from CA at a small catholic all girls school

*4.3/4.0
-rank 5/138
*in a ton of honors classes
*PSAT = 165 (boo. i know. i'm taking my sat next week, cross your fingers!)
*Class President, Key/service Club President, NHS, CSF, Mock Trial, JETS, 300+ community service hours...a ton more.

I hope this will help me, but I was a US House Page this past Fall. (Right? Please tell me that thats something SOMEONE will care about!) Also, I know I'll get killer letters of rec. and write an awesome essay about pagelife. I loooooove DC with all my heart and soul. I know Gtown is a def reach, but GW is my #1. (am I ok?) I've looked around, but i've been stuck looking there.

Pref:
-East Coast (unless there is somewhere i should REALLLLLLLY look at in CA)
-No more than 15,000 enrolled with low-med diversity
-Private
-Awesome political science program

lemme know! thanks!

-Johns Hopkins University comes to mind.
-UVA is technically public but in terms of size and feel it is more private
-Same could be said for William & Mary
-Tufts

Clarmont McKenna is one in CA you reallly should consider.

thanks. thats a school a lot of people have told me to check out.

I think American is good also.

It's worth applying to Georgetown if you're interested in it! Def. add American to your list if you really want to be in Washington.

University of Rochester has an excellent Poli Sci. department.

Absolutely apply to Georgetown. GW would be great too, as well as American. Really any of those three, you cannot beat the location. Tufts, as someone else mentioned, is also respectable for polisci.

From your stats and interests, GW, Georgetown, American, Fordham, Claremont McKenna, Washington and Lee, William and Mary, Tufts, JHU, and Cal Berkley.

The only difficulty you might have is your SATs, but I sincerely doubt that they'll hinder you if you go up to the 2000-2100 range.

A good safety would be UC Davis...great internship opportunities in Sacramento just a short drive away.

i'm in sacramento and davis is way too close! i was just there today in fact. hah

Occidental in CA.

American University, definitely. Being near DC is great for opportunities, and many people actually end up liking AU better then GW.

Rochester.

Even if your SATs are relatively low, do not let that deter you from applying to Gtown or schools of that level. Mine were too (620M/690CR) and I got in.

Oops! Sorry, jpaps! I should have looked at your profile!
OK, I'm going to second looking at Claremont McKenna.

more por favor?

bummmmp.

My daughter was a US House Page as a junior. She is at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA. W&L attracts a lot of former federal pages from both wings of the US Capitol. In fact, one of the girls in her pledge class was on the Senate side at the same time. Here is a link to the W&L Common Data Set which will show you how your PSATs compare to the freshmen scores. Common Data Set 2006-07

GW loves former Pages and throws a lot of $ at them to entice them to come. I think there are 3 House Pages from her semester that are currently sophomores. Your scores are more in line with them as compared to GW.

PM me if you want.

maybe a couple more, bump.
