Where should I apply for engineering?

I’m not entirely sure of what discipline of engineering I want to go into. Biomed or mechanical seems good to me.
I’m considering Berkeley, UW, and UMich, but most of those are pretty difficult to get into :frowning:
I was also thinking Colorado School of Mines, but the low percentage of females really turned me off lmao.

Some background:
I’m an Asian female. I go to the top school in my state. My GPA is 3.85 unweighted, but that’s pretty high for my school. I don’t know my rank because my counselor decided to take an extended vacay. I took 3 AP classes. Taking 4 next year. Got an ACT of 32. Have yet to take subject tests. I’m not going to list everything about myself because that’s dumb. I am on my school’s robotics team, I am VP of a community service related club (not naming which one, but it’s one of the major ones), and I’ve gotten some money for engineering internships. So basically, I have no chance at any of the schools I mentioned.

What I’m looking for:
An engineer once told me “once you get your foot in the door, it doesn’t really matter what university you attended.” I see people from MIT and Stanford working alongside people from Penn State and WSU anyway. But, I digressed from my main point. I’m really just looking for a mid level to top school (moderate to more selective schools) that will give me a good foundation for a career, I don’t really care about names. I want to be challenged. I just want to get the most bang for the buck and have a lot of good, hands on research opportunities. Oh, and be happy. No party schools though.

Biomed is a discipline which requires a graduate degree to get a job. There’s a glut of Biomed majors now. MechE’s can work in Biomed.

For a MechE degree, it’s not necessary to go to the most prestigious name schools. Employers don’t pay higher salaries for an Ivy League degree vs a State U degree.
