where should i apply/lib arts with intl studies

sorry that this is so specific to me,
this may belong more in the chances post, but I would really like some guidance as to which of these schools to apply to and how to get my white parents to visit because they're no where near as excited about college as I am and you know, they're white and middle/uppermiddle class.

ok, i'm interested in english, french, comparative literature (don't intend to major in it tho), and international studies
eventually I see myself either as a lawyer working for a good cause
(what, I'm not sure) or as some other type of grad
student perhaps to be a prof

I like the idea of a liberal arts college, I think the atmosphere and size would be good for me, but I don't want people pelting me with fruit because I agree with Bush on social security, tho very little else

800 cr 640 m DAMN 720 w (how can I be so retarded when I'm in AP ENG LANG AHHH HATE THOSE PROMPTS) btw, those are my first time scores
I took them again in JUne but haven't gotten them back yet, I think they'll be worse due to a loss of focus

okay now the only catch to the lib arts school idea is that none of them pretty much offer a internation studies major except as a field of study within poli sci, which I do not want, except vassar.
vassar appears to meet pretty much all my criteria having an open curriculum, relatively close to home, good international studies program, and a general feeling that I wouldn't be either the stupidest there or face cutthroat type competition.
I want to be happy, intellectually engaged and an integral part of the campus community and get involved in activities, perhaps women's crew, and have friendly relationships with professors.
Another major thing is I'd like there to be a model un team and a competitive debate team, not just a club.
I guess at any college, the resources are there to start an activity, but debate is very important to me.
btw aid is very important and I won't be appllying anywhere ed, but I would consider ea.

Thanks if you've read this far, and I hope someone can solve the enigma of what college to go to and the riddle of getting white parents to take a less than 2 hr drive to vassar and several other colleges within that distance.

Hi! I was cruising through "CollegeConfidential" and I noticed you were searching for a liberal arts university that offered an international studies major. I go to Seton Hill University and we do offer such a program for undergrad students. I am actually a rising senior there and have had the time of my life over the past 3 years.

Seton Hill, founded in 1918, is a small, liberal arts university. The opportunities at SHU are much greater than those adjectives above can imply. Seton Hill offers a uniquely demanding, inspiring, and caring evironment for it's students. It has offered me the opportunity to grow, achieve, and have the experiences of a lifetime.

We have 1800+ students enrolled and they hail from over 30 states and foreign countries. If you are interested in athletic teams we are a member of NCAA DII WVIAC conference in a large variety of sports (10 women's teams, and 9 men's). Put simply, there is something for everyone here on this campus!

Good job on being proactive and asking for help in your search for your perfect college..now is the time for you to find out who you are, what you can be, and how far you can go, but to do that you need to find a special environment... Feel free to check SHU out on the web at www.setonhill.edu ... this way up!

you described conn college to a T. (its not as well known, but actually incredibly similar to vassar)

i've heard of conn college, but i think it might be a little too out of the way (i'm a nj resident) and i don't need to be in a city or suburb, but at least have a good size community within an hour or so

is conn college the remnant of the women's college at yale?
my debate coach went to somewhere called that the ivies were still single sex

Conn College is very close to New Haven, Providence, and only about 1 1/2 hours out of Boston. It has lots of good sized communities near it. It's definitely not in the middle of nowhere.

It is not the remnant of the women's college at Yale; it was never affiliated with Yale. Vassar was Yale's "sister" but decided to go co-ed rather than merge with Yale as Radcliffe did with Harvard.

I'd tell you to take a look at Macalaster College in Minnesota. Kofi Annan is an alum and the college's major selling point is its emphasis on an international perspective. It has a huge number of international students for a small school.

Im looking for a lot of the same things right now. Try looking at Macalaster, Conn College, Middlebury, Vassar, Reed, and Rochester.

Middlebury. Amazing language and international studies departments.
