Where should i apply?

I am A senior in Highschool in California(resident) and i really want to go to a good school but i think i have no chance, because of my gpa.

I have taken the SAT twice. The first time i got a 1950, and the 2nd time i got 2160(760M690CR710W). I plan to take it again in october and score 2200+(hopefully 2300).

Unfortunately though i only have a 3.33 uc gpa and 3.41 weighted total gpa.
But i did have an upward swing with a 4.2 weighted Gpa my 2nd semester junior year.

I have taken hard classes and got a 4 in my AP calc test as well as my AP Euro test.
Also, i was born an orphan in one of the poorest parts of the world(if that helps... i will mention it in my essay). I have pretty average ECs, i played sports for 2 years, i was in a few clubs, nothing special though.

i want to study computer science, i dont care about about class sizes or locations right now, when i have a list i will choose which college fits me the best. I do want the college to be either in California or the East coast.(would have to be a good school to get me to go to East though)

But anyways, i have no idea what colleges to even look at so i was wondering if you guys could help me. I think i want to apply to the UC schools as well as USC and Cal Poly Pamona and SLO. But that is all i know for now.

Also, would it be smart to try and do early action at Stanford, because that is probably the only way i’d get in there, and i’d go there for sure if they accepted me.

I would waste my EA chances on Stanford.

Schools to look at:

RPI
Purdue
Clemson
WPI
Cornell
NYU
Penn State

do you mean wouldnt?

I wouldn’t EA at Stanford, you might think you will like it…but it is better to have choices then to be stuck in something. Outside of the typical California Programs (i.e. Cal Tech, UCLA, Stanford) you might want to look North into Oregon and Washington State.

Will you need financial aid?

i dont think financial aid is an option for me considering my parents make more than 250k

also, EA at stanford doesnt require you to go the school. it just says u cant apply early to any other school

take a look at Clemson! I’m a junior majoring in civil engineering and the science programs here are really good. Let me know if you have any questions!

Oops!
