Where should I apply?

Hey guys, I was just wondering which schools I should apply to, and which ones I have a good chance of getting into.

SAT Is) first time, no study. not too shabby luckily enough =)

2360: CR 800/ M 760 / W 800 (MC 76/80 : E 12)

I got a nosebleed while I was taking the math section, so i wasted a lot of time getting tissues. Also, I couldn't use my calculator because both of my hands were soaked with blood and I was using one hand to apply pressure to my nose = (

SAT IIs)

World History 800

US 780 (should have studied)

Math I 790 (always mess up on standardized math exams)

Biology M 760 (I wasn't taking AP Bio and I grossly underestimated the difficulty of the exam, so i didn't bother to study too hard; thus my low score)

will be taking Math II, Chem, Bio again, and possibly Spanish?

ACTs)

34

M 35/ S 35 / R 34 / E 33 (ouch =( ) / Essay 11

prolly being retaken

GPA)

4.0/4.0 on a college scale

Class Rank)

1/~500

APs)

World History: 5

US History: 5

English Lang: 5

Next Year:

Calculus BC

Physics B

Psychology

Spanish

was gonna take English Lit but since i'm in Cleveland all summer, working 1.5 months 8 - 5, I wouldn't have been able to handle the summerwork

& then a bunch of random extracurriculars and awards (Harvard Book Award, Varsity Tennis, etc).

I'm an Asian (Indian) male from Massachusetts.

I was pleased with my SAT I score.... but if only i hadn't gotten that nosebleed! Two questions!!!! Especially since math is the easiest section to get an 800 on =(.

SAT IIs and ACTs need some work, i'm debating retaking them (especially Bio).

So, what do you guys think? Keep in mind that I do not have my permanent resident status, so i'll be applying as a foreign resident, although I've lived here for the past 10 years (due to incompetent lawyers). What should my safeties be, my reaches, and then my bread and butters? I'm not trolling, anyone who looks through CC will see many people with better transcripts I am sure.

Thank you once again

anyone? haha =P

What the heck.
Deep breath. Do not retake any of those tests. A 33 on one section? Give me a break, youre fine.
I can’t recommend schools because I don’t know what you are interested in, but i would say you have a solid chance anywhere you choose.

I LOL 'd

apply anywhere that i am not lol. I feel like your mention of your harvard book award implies a want to go there. My suggestion, go to Harvard.

@hahahaha: in retrospect, it does seem pretty funny. i was ****ED on test day though

blasiankid/riceowl: alright, thanks. do you guys have any good ideas for safeties? My reaches will probably be the Ivy League/good Liberal Arts schools, but I’m not sure what will constitute a good safety that I’m guaranteed to get into. Umass?

apparently P I S S E D is a bad word?

Yes. I recognize that so many teens use it as a description of anger they don’t realize how it appears to others, but it really isn’t appropriate for writing or adult conversation.

If you are interested, see the Wikipedia entry for “Seven Dirty Words.”

Alright, thanks for letting me know. I’ll be sure not to use that in any of my interviews then ;)

I think you have a good shot.

I wouldn’t retake the tests. Look into all of the schools and pick about 6 to 7 iffy schools like ivies and 6 to 7 schools that have about 30-50 admit rate. Best of luck to you.
