Where should I ED - Northwestern or UPenn?

Hey guys, I'm just curious as to where I should apply early. I hear a lot of people say that you should apply early to your dream school you're dying to go to and that you won't have a good chance applying regular for. But for me, there's definitely a dilemma. If I apply early to UPenn, I would take a huge risk since there isn't a good chance I would get in, early or regular. Plus, Wharton, the school I like best, is far too selective for me, and I would apply to a Int'l Relations/Econ major instead. But If I do get in, it would be absolutely amazing and I would not hesitate to withdraw all other apps. I have already visited UPenn, and I loved the general atmosphere, campus, and everything else.

On the other hand, I have never visited Northwestern, but I heard plenty of good things about it from friends, and judging from pictures and the website, the campus seems lovely and the programs also appealing. I would consider also doing an Int'l Relations/Econ double major there, and also a business administration certificate (they don't have a full major for business). I also have a better chance of getting in there. But again, if I got into both (which is pretty much impossible), I would choose UPenn over Northwestern.

Every other college I am applying to is less selective and less ideal than these 2 schools, with the exception of Cornell. I was considering EDing there, since I loved my visit there and since they had a business program, but the location of the school isn't exactly great.

You can see my stats on my "Chance Me" post, and in college, I would love to join clubs and activities related to art, acting, Asian culture, and journalism.

Thanks for your time!

can you afford either school? what do the calculators tell you? If you apply ED you’re telling the school that you have the money to go there. do you?

Apply Northwestern

I do not recommend applying ED to a school you have not visited. Also, why are you willing to apply to Northwestern’s Weinberg but not to Penn’s CAS? Penn CAS is not more selective than Weinberg. If Penn is your dream school, why not apply ED to CAS.

Your UW GPA is very low. Though nothing is impossible, if I were you, I would not waste ED on a school where it would take a Hail Mary for me to get in.

Thanks for the replies guys. In terms of affordability, I don’t think I necessarily need financial aid, although I’m not too sure on how that all works (I know some people in my income range that still get aid for some reason, or maybe its merit stuff). About Penn, yes, I would definitely apply ED to Penn CAS, since like I said, Wharton is way above my level. The Penn PPE major is part of CAS, I believe.
