well it has, any advice? Its just that I figure I can do well on the MCAT's regardless of what institution I go to so I should choose a college based on the GPA that I will yield.

Aside from my bias, I think that a lot of people also underestimate the power of small LACs, like Swarthmore and Wellesley for sending its graduates to med school. So, that's an option for you.

I do know that Johns Hopkins and UC Berkeley are no walk in the park when it comes to surviving in their premed programs. They are utterly brutal and overly competitive.

I cannot comment about Northwestern, although on the Multiple Degrees Program section, there is a student who is in HPME and likes the combined BA/MD program, but hates NU.

I know some people who went to UCLA and ended up in medical school. Did UCLA contribute to this, were they lucky, or did they work unusually hard? Who knows!

The bottom line is that admission into medical school is really difficult and capricious. Given your confidence in your ability to do well on the MCAT, you should pick the school that makes you happy and affords you the most opportunities.

It would definitely have to be either Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Swathmore, or Claremont Mckenna. Even though I would say that Hopkins and Northwestern are way better because there is nearly no partying at Swat and Claremont, but then again Swathmore is top ten for placing kids into elite grad schools. Hope this helped:

that's interesting i've seen that page before but i couldn't care less about a social scene, i was thinking more along the lines of grade inflation. I really don't like that ranking though because it has business and law in there and that's not of my interest and it only looks at 15 schools. I want to see if students at these universities know if the grades ae upped alot.

hey is University of Washington (seattle) good for pre-med?
which do u think is better for pre-med?
Boston Univ.
UC Irvine
Case Western
Univ Washington
or Univ. Miami

I am telling you Swat, Hopkins or Northwestern are best because Claremont Mckenna is known notoriously for producing lawyers and next up businessme, but not doctors. Northwestern also has an edge if you want to do bio-medical engineering as your major because they garuntee any undergrad engineer a spot in the business school which is top 5 in the country so you can always have a back up plan and Hopkins is hopkins, but the thing is they weed people out and if you have low GPA your basically stuck with degree, most probably biology.
So choose carefully oh smart one....i had to say that

go to UCLA, i think it offers the most opportunities to a premed student. If you do well at UCLA, you can get accepted by any medical school in the country.

UCLA is known as the "premed" UC. It's not as cutthroat as UCB, but still has a great academic reputation. In the end, where you feel most comfortable is where you should attend.

I got into all the UCs on your list and I'm serious considering attending UCLA over UCB this fall.

I would stay away from Northwestern and JHU unless you know for sure you can compete at a very high level. the kids there are all gunners. (I planned on applying to JHU and WashU but decided not to because UCLA is better than both! :)
