Hello, am currently trying to decide where I should go to school next year. I have been accepted to Umass Amherst, University of New Hampshire, Clarkson, Lehigh, RIT, WPI, and RPI, but to start in January 2016. The best choice financially would be Umass, because I live in state, and I would be a part of the honors college. I still need to hear back from Lehigh about financial aid, but that is where I really want to go. I also got a lot of money from RIT, so I am highly considering going there. What are your thoughts on where I should go?
Bump
Can you give us a bit more information? What do you plan on studying? After aid, how does the cost of attendance at RIT and Umass compare, and the money aside which would you rather go to?
Definitely wait until you hear back from Lehigh before you make your decision though.
Unless Lehigh offers significantly better financial aid, Umass is a no-brainer.
Subjectively, RPI, Clarkson, UMass, Lehigh and RIT are the five that stand out for me. RPI for its national reputation; Clarkson for its interesting location; UMass for its honors college and lower price; Lehigh because it’s your favorite; with the scholarship you have been offered, RIT works as a private alternative to UMass, but make sure the price is comparable.
@lalalemma I plan on studying Computer Science. I was accepted into a very selective Computer Science and Business Program at lehigh which has a 100% job placement rate. Lehigh is my dream school if I could afford it. RIT would cost about 27k per year, UMass would cost about 20k per year, and I’m not sure of Lehigh yet.
@merc81 I was only accepted to begin studying at RPI in the second semester, which does not appeal to me. I also do not know much about Clarkson so I have no feelings either way.
2014-15 approximate expenses, tuition and room/board:
Umass - $25,000
Lehigh - $57,000
Hopefully Lehigh will offer good financial aid.
