Hi,
I have the choice between living in President's Park, or the Commons. I plan on having just one other roommate. Which would you pick, and why? What are the pros and cons of each etc.?

Thanks

Hey! I’m a second semester Honors freshman and I’m currently living in the Commons. I can’t speak much for President’s Park, but I do like the Commons because they are much closer to most things on campus and, of course, it’s cool to have co-ed floors. There are also small lounges on each floor (which the Park does not have) and the rooms are a little bigger than they are in the Park. However, I have heard that people who room in the Park have a more… fulfilling freshman experience, I guess, given that they are all together in one place. And they’re closer to the RAC (the mega gym).

Hope that helped!

^I think you mean AFC. The RAC is pretty much the same distance from the Park and the Commons.

I have honestly seen no one on here that is in the Park, so you will pretty much only get biased opinions. As for which one is better, I don’t necessarily think one is better than the other.

The Commons is right next to SouthSide, which is the main place I eat. It is nice waking up in the morning and just having to take a few steps in order to get breakfast. Skyline (GMU’s mini-gym) which has cardio equipment, free weights, and machines, is right next to SouthSide as well. Also, as Jelly mentioned, the Commons is pretty central and it is stationed near many buildings (except the engineering building. That is a fun walk when it is 20 degrees outside). And we do have lounges, but there is not much in them (at least mine).

Presidents Park has IKE’s, but that is only open from 9pm-4am and not all you can eat. And as Jelly said, they probably do have a more “fulfilling freshman experience.”

If I had to pick again I would probably go with the Commons, but as I said, I do not think is not much of a difference.
